Week 14

Wed Aug 19, 2009, 12:36 PM
(This is the first time that I will have posted this on deviant art so if you would like to read previous weeks please go to [link] and there you will be able to find weeks 1-13.)

(My friend Mika (Mulperi) has just made a new myspace page for his music. You should all check it out [link] my personal favorite tune he has uploaded is Spectrum of Life.)

Has it really only been a week since I've wrote my last blog? It feels like it has been more like several weeks than just one. I believe that it was this past week that I met up with Jiff and my sister and we discussed what we would like the poster to be about. We're looking to do one on Woodstock. Being yesterday, today and tomorrow marked the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. I also bought some watercolors, some brushes and watercolor paper and went to Justin's house and worked on some strokes for the CD cover. I am not quite sure now though that it's exactly what I want but I am going to give it a shot.

You hear all the time of Woodstock being an event out helping support the arts. I just feel that going traditional this week really opened the doors for me creatively. I often get so mixed up in this world of digital media and emulation that I forget what I may be emulating and sometimes that experimentation is the best route. It's easy to find something that you like and say that you want to create something in a similar style for a project. Yet most often you find that there is a lot more than what you had expected that someone put into the piece that inspired you. You can't just jump into something without researching.

This week has been a rather big week for me. A lot has and is changing in my life. I discovered that the 28 hour a week part time was open and I decided to take it. I hate that I am leaving behind Mark, but I really learned a lot from him over the past three years. I guess somethimes though you just have to move on to the next step in life. I will be getting a better pay. I am not sure how things will pan out with Badin, but it's still up in the air for me.

Well today at church pastor Adam gave a sermon on trials and tribulations. How God uses storms in our life to make us stronger and gain knowledge. In the class I'm in we spoke on a similar topic and how sometimes in life we have to often be obident towards God before he will answer our prayers or he may not answer them in the same light we were expecting but not to lose focus and keep our eyes open. God wants to see if we will complain or remain faithful and continue stead fast in prayer. I am thankful for God using me today to run the cameras and allowing me to get practice before I start tomorrow with the video conferencing equipment.

Over the years I have prayed for a girlriend in my life, yet it was just never right at the time. I needed to finish up with school, and become the person I am today. I have matured a lot since I was 16. Anyway, Heather came over on Thursday of this past week. We went to what a burger for shakes, bowling, city lake park to get pictures, oakboro, then out to Taco Bell, then out to Badin lake and after that back to my house. I asked her to be my girlfriend and she accepted. I couldn't be happier at the moment. She's so different from any other girl I know. She's got to work 40 hours over the next two weeks. I will be working 40 hours as well with the Badin gig. We're looking to have a movie day and possibly go out to the top of morrow mountain.

I have continued to mess with sounds. I have finally got a sound now that achieves what I was looking for. It has the ambience of my intrepitation of how a shooting star would sound/ a whale from above water, yet on the low end it has more of a drum like bell which I am still working on improving. Then in the center I have ambient bells which resemble an electric piano. I learned a bit from listening to the pianist from church again today. I keep picking up from hearing him play. I am glad that I have finally found a better balance between music and art. Dan has wrote something he would like some ambience added to which sounds awesome to me.

I was hoping to scan in the watercolor strokes today but it's pouring down rain again. Which reminds me I need to go and listen to the song raindrop from Coldplay and see if I can get a sound close to what they use in the intro. Well anyway, I found in the bible that Ron and Doris got for me after my bapitsm when I was 13 that there is a watercolor creation there that I may be able to pick something together like. I need to get some images of Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia, and maybe someone else. Yet I will threshold the images and get to work on them.

I know that I will have some time at the new job on the days that I am not capturing to work on some design being they told me otherwise I would get bored. I think this would be a great time to work on my portfolio site as well as Mark's site. I will probably work more on Mark's site until I have a better base for my portfolio site. It's just so hard getting myself into the mindset of working in flash. I don't know why, I think if I just jumped in I wouldn't have any problem. I also need to rethink the layout for the coupon page for the fake restaurant. I haven't done much work on the sticker page recently which is something else I can do during the free time.

I still have big plans for my future and am not losing site of those plans. I am still moving forward in my opinion. I am so thankful for how God has brought me where I am today. Until I can finish up this portfolio and find a full time job in Graphic Design I think that I am in a good place. I am not as concerned about my job status as I was in the TV studio. I am glad that Mark was able to find some free help with Joe and I hope that he has a lot to offer him with his after effect experience.

Last night I went to a party at Matt's house. I seen a lot of faces that I haven't seen in a while. It was nice seeing people and I for once felt like things were real again. I will admit though it made it a little harder getting up this morning. Well guys I believe that it is for week 14, I am happy for the way this week has played out. I just hope that I can deal with working a schedule that is completely different every day of the week. This is Austin signing out.
